It was that time again. The 4 Miles of Groningen was on the schedule and of course we as RunX Groningen could not miss it! We participated with two teams. Team 1 was focused on speed to have a shot at the podium of the business teams. Team 2 consisted of the more recreational runners.
The day started with gathering at the running store . Those who hadn't already done so changed there. We quickly did a photoshoot for a nice group photo, and then we set off. From the store, it was about a 10-minute walk to the station, where we took the train to Haren. From there, it was a short half-hour walk to the start.

It was time to warm up. First we walked a lap together to warm up and then we all did our own routine. Everyone had their own habits. The last training pants and tops came off and together we walked to our starting box. We were in wave 2 and were allowed to start at 13:05.
We were ready. With our own goals in mind, the focus was written all over our faces. The starting gun was fired, and off we went! Just ahead of us, the competitive runners, such as Team 4 Mijl , had set off. We followed them.
As seventh of the company run competition it was Ben who crossed the finish line after 21 minutes and 53 seconds! Not long after that our second runner also came in: Nick in a time of 23
minutes and 52 seconds. Not far behind, Bastiaan crossed the finish line in a time of 24 minutes and 27 seconds. As the youngest of our runners, that is quite an achievement!
In the end we finished as tenth team in the final standings of the business run competition. Our second, more recreational team, finished as ninth in the final standings of the recreational business run. Achievements we are very proud of!
Of course the day wasn't over yet. Because we are one of the sponsors of De 4 Mijl van Groningen, we were given access to the VIP lounge at the fish market. There we could relax and cheer on runners who were still sprinting their last few steps. We took a nice group photo at the fish market and then we all went to take a shower.
To end the day nicely, we had agreed to eat something together. There we all shared our experiences of the event and had a delicious meal. Some were more satisfied with their time than others, but everyone had a great day!

We hope that everyone who participated, helped or encouraged had as much fun as we did. We really enjoyed it and would like to thank the organization for the fantastically organized event! See you next year at the start of The 4 Miles of Groningen 2024!
