On the night of May 4th to 5th, a team of thirteen enthusiastic runners from Loopgroep03 will depart from Wageningen with a special mission: to bring the official Liberation Flame to Haarlem. They will do this by running, in a relay format, over a distance of no less than 130 kilometers. The runners will brave the night and welcome the new day as they relieve each other every two kilometers. Each runner will be accompanied by two bicycles carrying an oil lamp in which the Liberation Flame is burning. Their final destination: the main stage of Bevrijdingspop Haarlem , where they will ceremonially light the flame between 12:30 and 13:00 PM.
“Freedom connects us”
It is a privilege to be able to pick up the fire and proudly bring it to our city and to Bevrijdingspop. Freedom is a great asset to us as runners. The freedom that you experience as a runner, for example during our weekly training sessions in the dunes, is something we want everyone to have. This year, the Netherlands is celebrating 80 years of freedom. Loopgroep03 is passionately contributing to this for the fourth time. Preparations are in full swing and the training sessions are being tailored to this.
