The IJsselloop in Deventer was traditionally scheduled for Sunday, April 13.
A very well organized running event that we as RunX have been sponsoring for years and in which we as a company of course also participate with various company teams. This year we participated with three RunX teams, two of which on the 5 km and one on the 10 km.
The 10 km runners were allowed to start at 13:15. The weather forecast was not very good, because strong wind and rain were predicted. Fortunately, the rain was not too bad, but the wind was disappointing for the runners. There was a strong south-westerly wind, which meant that the runners had a strong headwind the entire way over the dike towards Terwolde.
This certainly did not stop the runners from doing their utmost best and that is also reflected in the times. For example, Seb came in 3rd with a time of 34 minutes and 8 seconds and Ruud van der Wal took a nice second place with 36 minutes and 10 seconds in the category men 40+.
These scores, together with the 34:53 of Bas de Kluizenaar, meant a 1st place for the RunX business team in the 10 km after three years!
An hour and a quarter later it was the turn of the 5 km runners of RunX. Unfortunately for the runners, the wind had not died down and the 5 km runners also had a hard time.
Martijn van de Lecq however did not care about the wind and started his solo race with a head start. He did not give up this lead position during the entire route. Third last year, first this year on the 5 km. A super performance from him!
Besides Martijn, more RunX runners won prizes in the 5km. Zoe van Dijk, despite little training, became 3rd in the women's category, Ard Vlooswijk won a gold medal in the men's 40+ category and Ronald Besselink won the silver medal in the men's 50+ category.
The real veterans also won some great prizes. Wieger Wiggemans came third in the category men 60+, Cees Kraaijenveld won a silver medal in the men 65+ and Evelien Steenland showed off a first place at the top in the women 65+. Evelien had not expected this performance at all, but because she started in a starting box that was too high, she had to run a little faster than she normally does. What a bad starting box can be good for…
All these great podium places ensured that RunX Apeldoorn finished first and second for the third year in a row in the 5km company run.
We would like to congratulate the RunX runners once again on their fantastic performances and can only say that this was a great day!
