Yvonne from RunX Apeldoorn tested the Brooks Hyperion Max 3. Her experience with the Brooks Hyperion Max 3:
After two runs in the new Brooks Hyperion Max 3, I can already say: this is a surefire favorite in my shoe collection. The shoe feels responsive, with comfortable cushioning that's not overly soft. This gives it the perfect balance between comfort and speed. So far, I consider it an ideal pair for long tempo runs and (faster) endurance runs.
The fit is snug yet comfortable. It hugs my midfoot and heel snugly thanks to the sock-like upper. My toes have plenty of room in the front. The shoe's fit seems designed for performance, which immediately creates a fast (race) feel.
Brooks has done a great job in terms of design: the shoe looks somewhat large, yet streamlined, without being too flashy (although I wonder if the sole really needed to be so thick?). The sole features a SpeedVault nylon plate—not carbon, but it does offer good energy return and stability, contributing to the fast yet controlled feel while running.
You can view the Hyperion Max 3 as the faster brother of the Glycerin (comfortable and soft) and the larger, more comfortable brother of the Hyperion (light and fast). The shoe is an alternative to the Saucony Endorphin Speed, HOKA Mach X, or New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5.
The Brooks Hyperion Max can be an ideal shoe if you are looking for a shoe with racing potential without having to immediately purchase an (even more expensive) carbon racing shoe. The Hyperion Max 3 is also a good option if you are looking for a shoe for longer (marathon) training runs, where comfort and energy return are important to you. In short: The Brooks Hyperion Max 3 is a versatile (training and racing) shoe for those seeking speed without compromising on comfort. Curious? The shoe is available at RunX stores . Who knows, this might be your new favorite too!
