The NB 880 v15 has received a major update compared to its predecessor, the 880V14. The main differences are more cushioning material in the midsole with a height of 40,5 mm in the heel and 34,5 mm under the forefoot. This is a 6 mm height difference, also called heel drop. In addition, a faster roll-off and a narrower fit in the midfoot. Read more about the experience of our test runner Astrid and the store employees of RunX.
“When testing, I expected the 880V15 to have a more cushioned feel, given its appearance (thicker midsole),” says Astrid. But in the end, it felt like an average trainer to me, with not too much cushioning, but not too little either. The shoe fits comfortably around the foot and is not too firm, but not too soft either. The changed heel drop from 8 mm to 6 mm makes the shoes roll off very smoothly. The shoes are a bit firmer in the forefoot, which makes rolling movement a bit faster and gives you a reasonably reactive feeling.

Fit
“The shoe fits a bit more than my previous pair of 880. I am used to the 880 having quite a bit of space, the v15 is a bit narrower and clearly fits a bit more compactly around the foot. In my opinion the tongue is a bit more padded and the upper is a bit firmer.”
One of the best things about the 880 is that it comes in a variety of widths, making it suitable for all foot shapes. The 880 v15 comes in narrow (2A for women, B for men), wide (D for women, 2E for men), and extra wide (2E for women, 4E for men) sizes, so whether you like cushioning and a smooth transition, there's almost certainly a style that will fit your foot shape.
In our advice at RunX we always take foot type, foot width and personal preference into account.

As mentioned before, the New Balance 880 v15 has clearly received more cushioning in the midsole and therefore also some extra weight. The 880 v15 is still, just like the 880 v14, a real all-rounder.
If you ran well on the previous version of the 880, you will also appreciate this version. Our testers still place the new 880 in the category of all-round training shoe with comfortable cushioning.
