The Brooks Glycerin 23 is a neutral running shoe that focuses entirely on comfort, softness, and a smooth ride. This latest version is designed for high-mileage runners who value maximum cushioning and a natural gait. Ideal for daily training, long runs, and road recovery runs. RunX colleagues Ben and Fleur tested the new Glycerin and share their experiences:

Fleur: “When I put the shoes on for the first time, I immediately noticed that the shoe fits very nicely around my foot, and that the tongue, heel, and sole feel very comfortable. The upper is nice and soft and breathable. From the start, the shoe felt like a combination of both soft and comfortable in the sole, as well as sturdy and stable. The rolling motion inside the shoe was smooth, and was nice for rolling from heel to forefoot. ”
The midsole features nitrogen-injected DNA Tuned foam. This technology combines soft landings with an energetic push-off. Additional cushioning has been added to the forefoot, making the shoe even more comfortable over longer distances. The result is a luxurious and smooth ride without sacrificing responsiveness.
The upper is made of a technical, breathable knit that conforms comfortably to the foot. The material feels soft and offers sufficient support without being constrictive. This ensures a comfortable fit, even when the foot expands slightly while walking. The heel and midfoot provide a stable fit, contributing to a confident and relaxed feeling while walking.

Ben: “Thanks to the comfortable upper, the shoe fits my foot like a glove. The Glycerin rolls off smoothly and has a responsive midsole. Not too hard, not too soft. Due to the smooth roll-off, the shoe feels 'natural' and comfortable.”
Thanks to the wider platform and balanced cushioning in the heel and forefoot, the transition from heel to toe is incredibly smooth. This makes the Glycerin 23 a stable and reliable shoe for neutral runners who want to maintain a natural gait.
Fleur: “I noticed the comfort mainly in the heel of the shoe (sole), where it felt nice and comfortable. I felt no tension or pressure, but I do think the shoe runs a bit small relatively speaking (in length). I would describe the cushioning as good and soft, very nice and comfortable for long runs. I tested the shoe in snow and slippery conditions on the street, and despite that, the shoe felt sturdy and stable.”
Ben: “The new Glycerin has great cushioning. I would definitely wear the shoe again for long runs.”

The Brooks Glycerin 23 is suitable for runners looking for a high-quality training shoe with plenty of comfort and cushioning. It's available in various sizes and widths, so even runners with wider feet can find a good fit. An excellent choice for those who prioritize comfort and quality with every mile.
Final verdict:
Ben: “The Glycerin 23 has a comfortable fit, even for my lower arch. It is a versatile shoe that can be used for all-round use, but is especially pleasant for endurance training.”
Fleur: “I would choose the shoe again for a future run. Although it feels slightly firmer than what I am used to, I found it very comfortable, and I will definitely reach for it regularly for my long runs. I will mainly use the shoes for long runs and recovery runs.”
