Analysis for custom running shoes
At RunX, we apply our gait analysis to create custom running shoes for men , women , and children. If you plan to start running, it is crucial to ensure that it goes smoothly, is enjoyable, and does not cause injuries. The first step in this is choosing the right shoes. In our running store , RunX, we are always ready to assist you in finding the perfect custom running shoes. Although all shoes in our stores are of high quality, it is about which running shoe suits you best, for both running and walking. That is why we tailor every shoe specifically to your situation.
We achieve this through a comprehensive RunX gait analysis . We place your physical capacity at the center of our measurement, with the essential question being: how much can your body physically handle? Our recommendation focuses not only on your feet and legs but also includes a thorough study of your entire body. Additionally, we delve into your goals and personal story. By combining this information with our expertise, we are able to determine the most suitable shoe for you and, in doing so, identify the perfect custom running shoes.
Our approach to finding the right running shoe focuses on resilience. How much your body can tolerate is influenced by several factors, including your running experience, goals and physical condition. During the running analysis we study, among other things:
1. Running history
How much experience do you have with running and to what extent are you physically trained? What specific training methods do you use and how often do you train per week? Do you mainly run on firm or soft surfaces? In short, your individual story is crucial for us to obtain a comprehensive picture for putting together custom running shoes.
2. Target
Choosing the right custom running shoes depends on your goals and background as a runner. Are you focused on running a 5K, or are you aiming to complete a marathon? Perhaps your goal is less specific, such as improving your fitness or working on your overall health. These goals and your personal running background play an essential role in finding the right custom running shoes.
3. Body
We collect data about your body by starting with a foot scan of your uncovered feet. This allows us to accurately analyze the pressure points and the distribution of pressure under your feet. After the foot scan, we use a (high-speed) camera to capture video footage, with which we can show your walking style and the load on your (lower) legs, including ankles, in detail.
Elements we assess during a running analysis for custom running shoes:
• A) By looking at your uncovered feet, we examine the pressure points, pressure distribution, width, length, and height of the instep. We also inquire about any foot problems to gain a complete understanding for custom-made running shoes.
• B) Your body weight, along with your running style, is of great importance regarding the load on your running shoes. At an average speed, the impact load can be two to three times your body weight. A good match between body weight and shoe cushioning is crucial, as both insufficient and excessive cushioning can lead to problems. We also take into account your running pace, personal preference, and the type of surface you usually run on.
• C) Your injury history is important. We consider injuries or abnormalities that may affect load capacity when providing recommendations.
• D) We assess the position of your lower legs, including your ankle joint, knees, and the angle between the hip, knee, and ankle (Q-angle).
• E) Total body posture receives special attention. We observe your posture while running on our indoor test tracks or treadmill.
• F) Your running technique is of great importance. A good technique improves load capacity during running. In our RunX stores, we also assess your running technique and provide you with simple tips to improve it. Additionally, we can advise you on local running groups, athletics clubs, and personal trainers who can guide you in improving your technique and fitness.
